And like every times… I’m late! Happy Birthday to you Mr Pratt!!!
Guy,
Safe travels to you and the family. And welcome home when you get in.
I’m chatting up your book to friends. I realize that Idaho is “the sticks” compared to a lot of the world, but was disappointed that I couldn’t find it in shops locally. Perhaps your book people can spur that along with the larger retailers. Let me know if there is something I can do locally.
Toodles.
Dave
Guy, i got your book for xmas, a great book, the trouble was i read it too quickly, i could n’t put it down . Apart from the Floyd & Roxy stuff i was surprised by other great musicians you have worked with & i also realise i dont have the stamina to be in a rock band ! (musical ability aside)
Dave
The book is only available on import. I’m working on getting a US deal, with hopefully a tour to follow..
Just mentioned you and the book to one of my techs when he was making bass jokes. And I actually have my bass with me today, because one of my coworkers is going to show me how to fix the bloody thing once and for all. It also needs a good restringing, much like my strat and the acoustic.
Time to raid the music store!
Nix
(having had too much sugar already today, whee!)
Hi Guy,
It’s nearly a month later, can I ask what you thought of the Sydney show ? And would you consider doing more Australian shows later down the track ?
Karen.
And oh, did you finish the book yet ?
Karen
I really enjoyed the Sydney show and am trying to get a tour organised for next year…Finished the book ages ago!
xG
Good luck with the show on planet rock Guy.
I wont miss it!
Cheerio!
Guy,
i have been reading comments on your blog & have recognised quite a few names from another well known blog appearing here.
Welcome back to a damp London by the way, bet your really enjoying the weather after Bali (not).
Welcome home Guy, and I trust that the Bali trip was relaxing before getting stuck into the year that is 2008 !
Just wondering if you could shed some light on the sessions for the Jerry Burns album you did in 1992. I really like this album ( very Blue Nile(esque ), and was wondering what happened to her. I know she wrote the song ” This Love ” for Craig Armstrong’s first record, but since then has disppeared off the radar.
Happy New Year Guy, and all the best for 2008.
Cheers
Paul
That was a good listen, and really not bad for being late at night and jetlagged, as you said. As for the ‘technical issues’, my station has a name for them, after the poor DJ who may not have invented ‘em, but he sure popularized ‘em. We call them ‘Chris Waffle Moments’, and I think he got kinda mad at us one night when we were teasing him mercilessly about it during the middle of his show.
Still, ‘didn’t he do well?’
Thanks for the entertainment, as always. Looking forward to next week’s show.
Cheers!
Nix,
Working on her own playlist for tonight, aie!
What Jerry Burns album?
If Paul is right you need another holiday!!
This is the album I’m referring to. Maybe you were miscredited. If so….Apologies Guy.
Jerry Burns – Jerry Burns ( Columbia Records 1992 )
Jerry Burns – Vocals
Bobby Henry – Piano, Guitar & Keyboards
Bill Dillon – Guitar
Guy Pratt – Electric and Stand Up Bass
Andy Duncan – Percussion
Audrey Riley – Cello
Stephen Hague – Accordion
The False Harmonics String Ensemble
Track Listing
Pale Red
Casually Unkind
Hardly Me
Fall For Lovers
Sometime’s I’m Wild
Crossing Over
Simple Heart
Completely My Dear
Safe In The Rain
Stepping Out Slowly
So I did…Can’t remember anything about it I’m afraid…I used to do a lot of records for Stephen Hague..
No problem. Just love that record. Maybe you could add it to the ” discography ” that is pretty bloody impressive if you don’t mind me saying.
Those Stephen Duffy albums still remain favourites of mine. I met Stephen in Melbourne last year as the R.W juggernaut rolled through, and he was an absolute gent. I have a great DVD with you and S.D doing ” I Love You ” on TOTP with the Steinberger in full force. I’m trying to get one at the moment, but they are quite hard to find these days. In the 80′s everyone had one. They have a sound al of their own !
Anyway….The ” Geek Factor ” sign is flashing, so I’ll be off to collect my punishment.
All the best Guy
Cheers
Paul
Just checked out Plant Rock website, this a regular gig for you now?
I will listen in for the first time tomorrow morning.
Like the Poke Pratt idea.
Karen.
Hey Dave (from Idaho),
I hear you; I just moved to New Hampshire (near the Boston area) from Utah… hard to find stuff out there sometimes. I gotta say though, I see Guy’s book all over the place when I visit the UK. I suspect once Guy seals a US deal it will be easy to find anywhere. Ditto to what you said: if there’s anything we can do to help get the book and tour this side of the pond let us know!
The Planet Rock gig sounds like a pretty sweet deal too.
Ed
Guy,
Just finished listening to your show for the first time.
Very much enjoyed. Keep it up.
Karen.
